Getting started

Is your library brand new to Leap?  Below are helpful links on how to get started with settings and permissions after Leap has been installed.

Click to expand the getting started information

First, how to access Leap.   The root of the URL will be the same as your other Polaris URLs (PowerPAC, SimplyReports, etc.) followed by /leapwebapp  - for example, https://library.com/leapwebapp.  If you have any questions, please contact your Polaris Site Manager.

Polaris Help or User Documentation is now available without login on our Documentation Portal.   The Polaris Leap Overview under Leap Help 6.7 is a great place to start and covers the topics linked below:
  • System Requirements
  • Browser and iPad Issues
  • Signing in to Polaris Leap
  • Leap User Interface
  • Using RFID in Leap

Next you will want to review the System Administration settings for Leap - see the help file Setting Leap Options in Polaris Administration.
Many Polaris Administration parameters, profiles, and tables used to set up and administer the Polaris staff client are also used in Leap. Some profiles apply to Leap only. The Workstation-level Leap parameters can be set to configure a Leap workstation where the Polaris staff client is not installed. For more information on the Polaris Administration settings that affect Leap, see the topic Polaris Leap Administration in the Polaris staff client Help.

Finally you will want to review User Permissions and workstations.
  • We have created a helpful solution : Leap permissions quick start guide
  • The Help Documentation also has information on the Security settings which control who can access Leap - see Leap Permissions Reference
