Home page link issue after July 2 update for NA/CA Configured Home Page showcase links from showcases that link to Vega Discover catalog resources result in a 404. Vega Discover catalog results from normal searches are unaffected. EU, AP, and SG libraries are unaffected because those regions did not receive the update yet. | Any | VDIS-34500 | 2025-07-02 | 2025-07-03 | Unresolved |
Duplicate titles on author page, one of which links to an empty resource card If a library both ingests vendor records via Econtent Management and also creates ILS records for those same resources, Discover suppresses display of the vendor record. However, if the vendor record doesn't roll up with the ILS record (which could be for expected reasons, like different title data), a separate format group will exist for the vendor record but will not display any format tabs or edition information. The empty format group doesn't appear in search results, but it manifests in two ways:

Social media sharing omits some accented characters When a patron shares a record to social media, some accented characters are omitted from the record information in the social media post. Examples of affected characters include "å", "ä", "ö", and "ü". Other characters (for example "â" and "é") do appear in social media sharing. | Any | VDIS-34106 | 2025-04-30 | 2025-05-27 | Unresolved |
Cannot add staff user with name containing diacritics When creating users in User Management, the system will not accept first or last names containing characters with accents (e.g. "é" or "ü"). "Invalid First name" appears beneath the field. | Any | VDIS-33635 | 2025-02-11 | 2025-05-27 | Unresolved |
Cannot delete collection or kiosk site that has payment configuration When a kiosk or collection site has a payment connection configured at the site level, that site cannot be deleted. The error displayed in Staff Admin is "There was an error deleting your site." To delete the site, first edit the payment connection and click the trash can to delete the payment connection. Then you will be able to delete the site as a whole. | Any | VDIS-33263 | 2024-11-19 | 2025-05-27 | Unresolved |
Pay Fines button uses HTTP url, not HTTPS (Safari displays an error when patrons attempt to pay fines) When a patron clicks "Pay Fines" in Discover, the URL that opens is (plain-text) HTTP, not (secure) HTTPS. In most browsers, the page automatically redirects to HTTPS, but Safari in particular may not redirect and may instead display an error as if Safari is unable to connect to the server. Plain HTTP is increasingly deprecated, and we should be using HTTPS consistently. | Any | VDIS-33165 | 2024-10-31 | 2025-05-27 | Unresolved |
Checked-out items with another status display only "Checked out" If a checked-out item has a status code (for example "BILLED"), Discover displays only "Checked out" as the status, with the due date. | Any | VDIS-34095 | 2025-04-29 | 2025-05-16 | Unresolved |
Duplicate checkout count in green banner When a patron checks out an ebook, the green banner shows 2 patron has two checkouts when they only have 1. Refreshing the browser then shows the correct number of checkouts. This behavior has been reported with OverDrive, Hoopla, and BorrowBox. | Any | VDIS-31782 | 2024-03-20 | 2025-05-16 | Unresolved |
Location codes not syncing to Discover Several libraries have reported location codes not syncing from their ILS to Discover. This can be caused by a location sync job failing, becoming stuck, and preventing subsequent scheduled location sync jobs from running. | Any | VDIS-23639 | 2021-03-03 | 2025-05-16 | Unresolved |
Ecommerce interface issues with a custom domain When a patron using Discover with a custom domain (not iiivega.com) pays a fine using PayPal, they are returned to Discover in a new tab where the patron appears to be logged out. The original browser tab is still open and still displays the fines. If the patron refreshes the original tab, they are still logged in, and the paid fines disappear. | Any | VDIS-32229 | 2024-05-21 | 2025-04-07 | Unresolved |
Issues for patrons with hundreds of bookmark lists Several libraries report that certain patrons with hundreds of bookmark lists experience issues with searching in Discover or viewing their account or bookmarks. | Any | VDIS-30434 | 2023-08-09 | 2025-03-14 | Unresolved |
"Resource ... is not available" for econtent with both ILS and vendor records The "Resource for checkout ... is not available" message appears in the patron Bookshelf for checkouts or holds, when all the following conditions are true:
A common cause for vendor records not rolling up is a difference in the author's name, for example when ILS records contain a 100$d and vendor records include only the first name and last name. Examples:
| Any | VDIS-33663 | 2024-08-29 | 2025-03-04 | Unresolved |
"Resource ... is not available" for Borrowbox checkouts or holds If a patron has a checkout for Borrowbox material, Discover displays "Resource for checkout <UUID> is not available" in the patron's bookshelf. A similar message displays for Borrowbox holds. This was reported for ILS records with correct 037 and 856 fields for Borrowbox (037$b starting with "bolinda" (case-insensitive) and 856$u url containing "bolindadigital" and a productId value). | Any | VDIS-33636 | 2024-12-19 | 2025-02-18 | Unresolved |
Showcases in collection sites include materials with non preferred locations When a showcase based on a saved search is viewed within a collection site, the showcase displays materials that don't match the collection site's preferred locations. (A similar issue existed previously with saved searches displaying materials outside the collection site. That issue has been resolved.) | Any | VDIS-33469 | 2025-01-08 | 2025-01-29 | Unresolved |
Hold denied when multiple editions exist, and some editions are not holdable Vega Discover sometimes unexpectedly gives an error "No items requestable, request denied" when a work format has multiple editions, and one or more editions are not holdable for the patron. If Discover's hold logic chooses to attempt a hold on a non-holdable edition, the hold will be denied. This issue can appear related to pickup locations, because pickup locations factor into edition selection logic. Example scenario: A library owns multiple print editions of Calvin and Hobbes, of which one is collectible and for library use only. A patron attempts a hold, with the same pickup location as the "available", collectible copy. Discover tries to place a hold on the edition with an available item at the pickup location, but the hold is denied. Using the edition-level hold button bypasses Discover's edition-selection logic and will allow a hold to be placed successfully (if the selected edition is holdable). | Any | VDIS-33314 | 2024-11-03 | 2024-12-10 | Unresolved |
Forgot my passcode: "Cancel & Go Back" button does nothing If a user clicks "I forgot my passcode" on the Log In dialog, a new tab opens with a Reset Passcode screen. If the user clicks "Cancel & Go Back on the Reset Passcode screen, nothing happens. | Polaris | VDIS-32937 | 2024-09-24 | 2024-10-02 | Unresolved |
Custom passthrough URL with parentheses or upper-case letters Vega Staff Admin does not accept parentheses in the ILL URL path for Works field for a custom passthrough. The error message is "Please enter a valid link name." If upper-case letters are entered in either URL field (Search Results of Works), Vega turns the upper-case letters into lower-case when generating the passthrough search link. If the URL is case-sensitive, this could result in a non-functional link. | Any | VDIS-32767 | 2024-08-09 | 2024-08-19 | Unresolved |
"Resource ... is not available" for OverDrive checkouts or holds If a patron has a checkout for OverDrive material with an ID that is not in Vega's database, Discover displays "Resource for checkout <UUID> is not available" in the patron's bookshelf. A similar message displays for holds with unrecognized IDs. This issue has been reported by libraries who do not load all OverDrive records into their ILS and by libraries whose records for OverDrive materials lack the correct 037 data. | Any | VDIS-32240 | 2024-05-20 | 2024-06-05 | Unresolved |
Moving an item between bibs doesn't remove it from the original bib If staff change the "Bib control number" on an item record, Discover adds the item to the new bib but does not remove it from the original bib. The item can still be found under the original bib in Discover, and if a patron checks out the item, the patron's Bookshelf will display the original bib's title. | Polaris | VDIS-32060 | 2024-04-25 | 2024-05-21 | Resolved in Polaris 7.7 for future moves |
Link to "See all librarian lists" leads to "Server Error" If a resource is added to more than two showcases, the full resource card displays a link to "See all [number] librarian lists." Following this link results in a "Server Error" page. | Any | VDIS-31734 | 2024-03-06 | 2024-05-21 | Unresolved |
Custom Links unexpectedly reordered Saving edits to Custom Links unexpectedly reverses the order in which the links are displayed. Work around this issue in one of two ways:
| Any | VDIS-31648 | 2024-02-23 | 2024-06-06 | Unresolved |
Confusing error message when blocked patron attempts hold When a patron with a manual block (MBLOCK field set to any value other than '-') attempts to place a hold, Discover displays a "Backend service response error" message. This message looks like the issue is with the software, not with the patron's record. | Sierra | VDIS-31467 | 2024-01-29 | 2024-02-26 | Unresolved |
French or German OverDrive materials rolling up unexpectedly French or German OverDrive materials not returned when limiting by language When Vega Econtent Management imports OverDrive materials in several languages, including French or German, the language identification is not correctly imported, and the editions are stored without language information. This has two effects:
Note that OverDrive vendor records can affect cover images and summaries even if the vendor record is not visible under editions, either because it belongs to a different collection site or because it is suppressed by an ILS record for the same resource. | Any | VDIS-33397 | 2023-12-19 | 2024-12-20 | Unresolved |
Clicking on "Next" stays at the bottom of the search results page In Chrome or Edge, when a patron clicks on a page number or "Next" at the bottom of search results, the view remains at the bottom of the page. The patron must scroll up to see the top of the page. In Firefox, the display lands at the top of the next search results page. | Any | VDIS-33960 (was VDIS-31109) | 2023-12-04 | 2024-01-22 | Unresolved |
Discover displays pickup location labels from Branches instead of Hold Pickup Locations If a pickup location code's has different labels in the Hold Pickup Locations table and the Branches table (e.g. "Main Circulation Desk" in Hold Pickup Locations vs "Main Library" in Branches). In addition, pickup locations are sorted alphabetically by Branches description instead of in Hold Pickup Locations table order. | Sierra | VDIS-31098 | 2023-11-29 | 2024-01-22 | Unresolved |
Discover does not limit pickup location list for materials using Home Pickup in the loan rule If a bib's items all have Home Pickup in their loan rule, and a patron starts to place a hold, Discover displays all pickup locations, even those for which a hold is not allowed. If the patron selects a pickup location that does not match any attached items, Discover does not place the hold but also does not show any error message. The pickup location dialog continues to display as if nothing happened. | Sierra | VDIS-30850 | 2023-10-24 | 2024-01-22 | Unresolved |
Printing from Discover outputs only one page Printing any page in Discover results in only one page of output, even if more content exists on the webpage than can fit on one sheet of paper. | Any | VDIS-30645 | 2023-09-26 | 2024-06-06 | Unresolved |
Changes to OPAC MSG in Sierra items don't automatically appear in Discover If staff change an item record's OPAC MSG field in Sierra, the new OPAC MSG value is not automatically sent to Discover. Modifying the bib record and then running a manual extraction for the bib's modified date will cause Discover to show the item's updated OPAC MSG. | Sierra | VDIS-31070 | 2023-09-20 | 2023-11-29 | Unresolved |
For Later bookmark list displays only ten titles When a patron first views their bookmarks, and they only have one bookmark list ("For Later"), only ten titles display even if the list contains more than ten. Sorting the bookmark list will cause all titles to appear. | Any | VDIS-30041 | 2023-07-03 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
Refinements in Advanced Search on mobile device When a patron accesses Discover on a mobile device and selects "Advanced Search," they are instructed to "select refinements on the left," but no refinements display. After the patron submits a search, refinements display and can be selected. | Any | VDIS-30004 | 2023-06-27 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
Differences in diacritic encoding prevent bibs from rolling up together If two bib records have the same title except for a difference in diacritic encoding, they will not roll up in Vega. For example, if e-acute (é) is coded "\u00E9" (single-character Unicode) vs "e\u0301" ("e" followed by Unicode acute accent), these titles will not roll up together even though the displayed characters are visually indistinguishable. This issue can also affect author fields or text that omits the diacritic. For example, "John le Carré" and "John le Carre" will not roll up. | Any | VDIS-32108 | 2023-05-30 | 2024-05-21 | Unresolved |
Bookmarks and saved searches disappear after changing patron barcode in Polaris When a Polaris patron's barcode changes, their bookmarks and saved searches disappear from Discover. | Polaris | VDIS-29611 | 2023-05-03 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
Email from Discover does not arrive Several libraries report that when patrons attempt to email themselves the citation for a title in Discover, the email never arrives. | Any | VDIS-29569 | 2023-04-26 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
Overdrive titles display "0 copies" when all copies are checked out When all copies of an Overdrive title are checked out, Discover displays "0 copies." This gives the impression that the library owns no copies. | Any | VDIS-28925 | 2023-02-22 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
Searching on mobile device in landscape position When searching Discover on a mobile device and rotating the screen to landscape position, the on-screen keyboard can cover the search box. When this happens, the page cannot be scrolled in order to bring the search box into the viewable area. | Any | VDIS-27443 | 2022-07-12 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
Duplicate items displaying within edition Several libraries report duplicate items displaying in the edition table for particular titles. | Any | VDIS-26237 | 2022-02-10 | 2023-09-29 | Unresolved |
