Polaris Upgrade, Migration or Post-Event Checklist

Description

Use this checklist after a hardware migration or an upgrade to verify that your system is operating properly.

NOTE: If you are testing after a hardware migration, note that some testing can only be done after the new server's IP address and hostname have been changed to that of the old server. If the IP has changed as part of the migration, then some changes will have to be done within the new system to reflect the new IP address before all services will work correctly.

What is the date of the upgrade? 
What version of Polaris are we upgrading to?
Will there be any new hardware with this upgrade?
Will there be a re-index taking place with this upgrade? 
Have custom PAC files been backed up (if applicable)?

Have custom reports been backed up (if applicable)?
Have custom SQL jobs been backed up (if applicable)?

 

Post-Upgrade Checklist

If your staff client is installed locally, has the new version been installed?
If your library is hosted, has the RemoteApp connection been updated (if applicable)?

Can you open a patron record?
Can you modify/save a patron record?

 Can you open a bibliographic record?
 Can you modify/save a bibliographic record?

 Can you open a item record?
 Can you modify/save a item record?

 Can you create a hold request?
 Can you trap an item to fill the hold request?
 Can you check the item out to the patron linked to the hold request?
 Can you check the item back in?

 Can you open the Reports and Notices utility?
 Can you run the Item Circulation By Collection report?
 Does the check out for the item above display in the report output?

 Can you generate a pick list in the Outreach Services Manager (if licensed)?

 Can you open a course reserve record (if licensed)?
 Can you modify/save a course reserve record?

 

 Leap - click to expand the checklist

Leap Checklist

 Can you navigate to Leap (https://[URL]/LeapWebApp)?

 Can successfully log in to Leap?

 Can you type into the search bar and do the autosuggestions appear?
 Can you select a result from the list of autosuggestions and open the related record?

 Can you open the find tool?
 Can you cycle through each of the find tool options (ex. Authority Record, Bibliographic Record, etc.)?

 Can you open a patron record?
 Can you modify/save a patron record?

 Can you open a bibliographic record?
 Can you modify/save a bibliographic record?

 Can you open a item record?
 Can you modify/save a item record?

 Can you create a hold request?
 Can you locate your hold request within the Picklist workform (Utilities > Picklist Processing)?
 Can you set your request to Located status and does it appear under the Located list?
 Can you trap an item to fill the hold request?
 Can you check the item out to the patron linked to the hold request?
 Can you check the item back in?

 Can you select the New Patron button?
 Do all of the correct fields display within the New Patron workform?

 Can you navigate to your print notices (Utilities > Print Notices)?
 Can you successfully generate a notice?

PowerPAC Checklist

 Can you navigate to the PowerPAC?

Did PAC customizations carried over/reapplied (if applicable)?

 Can you log into the PowerPAC using a patron account?

 Can you search for a title?
 Can you verify that the "Did you mean" function is working (if enabled)?

 Can you place a request for a title?
 Can you access the request under the Requests section of My Account?
 Can you cancel the request?

 Can you create a new title list?
 Can you modify the title list under the My Lists section of My Account?
 Can you email the title list?
 Can you delete the title list?

 Does your enriched content (ex. cover images) display correctly (if licensed)?

 Can you search for and locate integrated eContent (if licensed)?
 Can you check out an integrated eContent title?
 Can you view the integrated eContent under the Items Out section of My Account?

 Can you modify the title list under the My Lists section of My Account?
 Can you email the title list?
 Can you delete the title list?

 Does your enriched content (ex. cover images) display correctly (if licensed)?

 Can you view the integrated eContent under the Items Out section of My Account?

Can you log into WebAdmin/Language Editor?
If you search for your custom strings, do they appear?
If you navigate to the Reload view of the PAC Tools tab, do the PowerPAC and Mobile PAC (if applicable) appear as expected?
If you navigate to the PAPI Key Management tab, do the Access Keys appear as expected?
