Add a custom Greeting or Announcement to Polaris Phone Attendant

How do I edit the greeting message, or add an announcement within Polaris Phone Attendant?

Procedure

In order to update the greeting message or add an announcement within Polaris Phone Attendant, you will need to first access the language string(s) using the WebAdmin/Language Editor utility.

  1. Using a browser, navigate to the WebAdmin/Language Editor utility ([your catalog URL]/webadmin)
  2. Under the Edit view of the Language Tools tab, select the following
    1. Select "Inbound Telephony" within the Product dropdown
    2. Select the System level organization within the Organization dropdown
    3. Select the appropriate language within the Language 1 and Language 2 dropdowns
  3. Search for the specific language string you would like to edit
    1. Search for PA_TEXT_GREETING to locate the string used for the greeting message
    2. Search for PA_TEXT_ANNOUNCEMENTS to locate the string used for the announcement message
  4. To edit the language string, select the "New Custom String" icon
  5. Enter the updated language string into the Custom text box 
  6. Select the Update icon to save your updated language string

Next, you will need to access your telephony server in order to put your updates into effect.

  1. Open Services on the telephony server and stop the Polaris Phone Attendant service
  2. Open a file explorer window and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Polaris\[version]\WaveFiles\Inbound
  3. Identify the .WAV file for the language string you updated (either PA_TEXT_GREETING or PA_TEXT_ANNOUNCEMENTS) and delete it
  4. Restart the Phone Attendant service

You are now ready to test your updated language string! Dial your inbound telephony number to make sure the changes are now in place.
