Batch Update on Hold Pickup Dates
Solution

When library facilities must close due to emergency, there is a need for staff to adjust holds so that patron activity is not disrupted. Specifically, there is a need to batch update the hold pickup dates for holds already on holdshelf to a date when the library will likely reopen.

Innovative has created a script ready to be installed on Sierra and Millennium systems that will perform this function. Our staff can set the script to adjust the pickup dates by one week, one month or a specific number of days.

NOTE: Please note that this utility will change the "pickup by" date for all holds on the holdshelf and the utility will only change local holds. INN-Reach and ILL holds are unaffected by this utility.

As an example, you have holds on the holdshelf with the following "pickup by" dates and today is 3/20/2020:

1/29/2020

3/21/2020

11/26/2020

If the script is run with a setting of 30 days, the new "pickup by" dates would be:

4/20/2020

4/21/2020

12/26/2020

CAUTION: The extend holdshelf script can only add days to the "pickup by" date, the script cannot remove days from the "pickup by" date. For this reason, Support suggests requesting a shorter extension period to start with (e.g., 30 days) and the script can be run again if further extension days are needed later.

If you would like this implemented on your system, please open a ticket in the Supportal and indicate the number of days to which you would like your holds moved.
